The YMCA of South Florida is looking to for enthusiastic, motivated team players to join their After school team! We are currently hiring Counselors to plan and implement activities for the children involved in our program.

Afterschool Counselors are responsible for the daily supervision and safety of a group of up to 15 children.

Essential Functions: Conduct and maintain daily attendance records.

Ensure safety and supervision to a group of 15 children.

Ensure that activities are planned and followed for the children.

Communicate with parents / guardians in a professional and courteous manner.

Assist children with their homework on a daily basis.

Enforce safety rules and ensure practices are followed as they relate to children and staff.

Job Must be at least 18 years old.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Must be able to assist children with homework in the English language.

Bilingual (English and Spanish or English and Creole), a plus.

Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to relate to individuals at all levels.

Ability to communicate effectively, motivate students and lead group.

Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

Must attend YMCA orientation and Safety & Risk trainings within first 30 days of being employed.

Additionally, must attend regularly scheduled staff meetings for the purpose of planning, training, and coordination of program activities.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening.
