The YMCA of South Florida s Youth Development Team is now hiring a Summer Camp Tutor.
The Tutor works with students in individual and group settings, tutoring them in a variety of educational subjects.
The Tutor works closely with the Site Director to ensure academic components of the program are being met.
Essential Functions: Planning, supervising and implementing programs in accordance with policies, procedures, philosophy and core values of the YMCA.
Demonstrate, model and gear program to the needs of individual children with concerns for their interests, disabilities, special talents, and developmentally appropriate activities.
Maintain excellent communication with parents regarding activities, progress, achievements, classroom behavior, and / or concerns.
Conduct formal parent /teacher conferences to discuss child s progress.
Conduct and maintains accurate assessment records for each child utilizing anecdotal notes, example of children s work and assessment forms.
Attend functions such as staff meetings and program events.
Complies with all licensing and grants requirement and regulations.
Job High School Diploma, Currently enrolled in college or a college degree in Early Childhood education or related field preferred.
Experience working with school age children is preferable but not required.
Knowledge of developmental needs of the age groups.
Ability to teach and assist students in a variety of educational subjects.
Ability to attend all relevant YMCA trainings.
Ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels.
Ability to be creative in delivering tutoring activities to participants.
Leadership skills necessary to provide stability and program continuity for the counselors and children in the program.
Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish, preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (i.
e.
Word and Excel).
Organized and detail oriented.
As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening.
