POSITION SUMMARY:

The position is responsible for working directly with the Finance department users to translate business requirements into use case documents for the IT department, process configurators and our vendors’ software developers.  This includes development of business requirements, and assisting in the design, testing, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the user experience on company applications, including defining requirements, communicating changes to development staff, testing changes and coordinating implementation into production environment.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of our policy administration billing system, including accounts receivables and payables.
  • Troubleshoots billing issues, which sometimes involves manually calculating premium due according to pay plan schedules and by applying credits and debits to determine where the system is failing.
  • Comprehend and understand the company’s business, and the issues and challenges facing the industry and organization. 
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs.
  • Creates use cases and user stories documents.
  • Documents requirements, defines scope and objectives, and formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies.
  • Writes and executes test plans and test scripts, including testing the solution, recording and tracking of technical issues, and implementing any needed changes.

  • Facilitates meetings between the Company and our vendors’ software development teams
  • Generates routine project status reports in the format and within the timelines requested by management.
  • Liaison between the Company and our vendors’ software development teams (business analysts, developers, project managers) on complex issues such as rating and receivables.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, MIS or related field or a combination of education and relevant work experience
  • 2+ year’s prior experience as a Business Analyst.
  • 2+ year’s prior experience in the property insurance industry, preferably with a focus on Policy Administration System billing, accounts receivables, accounts payables and preferably with a property and casualty carrier.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiently using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS SQL, and Visio
  • Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and apply logic to solve business problems and a willingness to dig into the details of specific projects to ensure the appropriate approach and best use of company resources.
  • Detail oriented in order to perform the essential functions of the job related to forms, rating, receivables. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and assignments.
  • Ability to work on assigned projects with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have excellent presentation skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Project Management experience with knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • Experience with any or all of the following; Comparative Rater, Duck Creek, or Guidewire policy administration systems.
