The AVP, Connected Living Policy and Claims Systems will deliver market leading technology solutions for our Connected Living clients in North America. Scope of teams responsibilities include the requirements, design architecture and development of new features and functionality, application and process optimization, automating operational processes, assisting with the development of quality assurance procedures including automated application regression and load testing.

The US Connected Living Systems Leader will manage the end to end solution delivery for the market supported. This role will also build and maintain close working relationship with key stakeholders across the commercial teams as well as other functional areas.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement short-term and strategic initiatives to support business objectives. Direct and manage multiple solution delivery groups to ensure business objectives are understood and achieved.
  • Achievement of customer service level standards and through rigorous monitoring and solicitation of feedback to ensure customer needs are being met.
  • Support development and implementation of information technology strategic objectives. Provide leadership to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Providing leadership for the management of Distributed and Open Source applications.
  • Provide technical consulting to internal and external customers to achieve business objectives related to technology solutions.
  • Manage onshore and offshore Software vendors and related contract negotiations.
  • Management of budget requirements for responsible cost centers; management of expenses to achieve financial objectives.
  • Ensure governance and compliance of systems development methodology and deliverables.
  • Align staff according to skill set and experience to support IT projects for the business.
  • Promote staff development and cross training programs to improve technical and business knowledge and achieve exceptional results.
  • Participates and represents IT on cross site initiatives within Assurant.
  • Promote a high engagement culture marked by high creativity, accountability and ownership for results.

Basic Qualifications:
  • A strong technology background with hands-on experience in architecting, designing and building highly scalable multi-facet solutions (in-house built applications, integration to 3PTY technologies, digital web services, customer engagement technologies, etc).
  • Passionate about building compelling user experience.
  • Disciplined but agile, Process oriented but flexible in managing a team.
  • Experience in building solution-based product and services.
  • Strong project management experience and solution delivery implementations
  • 10+ or more years of work experience, including experience in a global operational team, matrix environment where youve grown a team to respond to increasing demand and technology shifts.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience working in an international setting with remote teams; sensitive to cultural differences and strong emotional intelligence
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize actions
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment, and to juggle several projects at once with a spirit of flexibility and positive outlook
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Management Systems Masters Degree preferred
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels in the organization.

Previous Experience:
  • 6+ years of systems development and delivery experience
  • 6+ years of experience in gathering business requirements and converting to functional specifications
  • 5 years of coaching and mentoring experience, within and outside of department

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Working experience with Microsoft stack and Azure.
  • Working experience with Agile Scrum delivery methodology

Travel Requirements
  • This role requires up to 20% travel

This position can be based out of our Miami, FL office (preferred) or Atlanta, GA office.
