Regulatory Compliance Legal Assistant
Position Overview
The Regulatory Compliance Legal Assistant is responsible for carrying out duties under the guidance of the regulatory compliance leadership team. Performs in-depth research of the relevant laws, rules and regulations impacting the enterprise.

Essential Job Functions
Conduct ongoing research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles
Review circulars, state bulletins, and other state or federal legislative changes and provide recommendations when changes are required
Draft and review legal documents, contracts, proposals and other key correspondence
Develop and implement strategy, policies, and standard operating procedures, to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in order to mitigate compliance risks
Independently research and respond to data call requests and complaints from state departments or other regulatory agencies
Conduct routine audits on existing policies and procedures to ensure continuous compliance
Compile information and maintain relevant records related to quality improvement and compliance monitoring activities for internal use and external audits
Provide oral and written communication regarding compliance matters to various departments and levels of management as needed
Work with outside counsel
Maintain and organize files, compliance calendar and spreadsheets
All other duties assigned by Management
Required Knowledge, Skills & Ability
Minimum 4 years as a legal assistant in insurance regulation
Bachelors degree or legal assistant certification
Ability to understand and interpret relevant laws, regulations, industry guidelines, statutes, administrative regulations, and precedents
Strong research skills particularly in insurance regulation
Experience with drafting contracts and other form development
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong ability to multi-task on projects while being attentive to details and target dates
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office is required (intermediate excel skills is a must)
