What does a PIP DEMAND ADJUSTER do at GAINSCO?

  • Maintains workflow by corresponding with attorneys and medical providers; preparing supporting documents for response to attorney and/or medical provider.
  • Resolves claim up to specific limit by verifying policy coverage; analyzing recorded statements, medical records and information gathered by investigation; negotiating settlements; determining pay off amounts; issuing payments.
  • Maintains quality service by making timely contact and informing all relevant parties of Pre-Suit Demand ; proactively communicating with adjusters, management and key personnel in various departments.
  • Ensures legal compliance by accurately documenting findings and recommendations; handling claim file according to established guidelines and procedures within specified timeline.
  • Assists in other areas of PIP department on as needed basis when workload dictates need for additional staffing.

What is required?

Education

  • High school or equivalent required. College degree preferred.


Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid Adjuster License in the State of Florida required.

Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years PIP claims adjusting experience in the auto insurance industry.
  • Full understanding of auto claims investigations and claims processing.
  • Knowledge of auto insurance industry regulations and State of Florida PIP Statutes.
  • Knowledge of HIPPA Laws.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • General office skills and basic math.
  • Ability to effectively manage own time and coordinate various tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective negotiating skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when speaking with irate customers.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify approaches and solutions to problems.

Other Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to obtain a valid Adjuster License in all states that company sells policies

  • Maintain CE credits

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

  • some weekend work is required

Office Equipment and Software

  • Computer, phone, printer, voice recorders, calculator, copier and fax.
  • MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, Internet, AS400, Image Right and Claims Manager.

  • Must follow established steps and procedures.
  • Selects specific steps from established options.
  • Develops options by which work can be accomplished.
  • Sets priorities and standards of performance.

Interpersonal Communication

  • Daily interaction with medical providers, attorneys, co-workers and key personnel in other Departments.
