A full-time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available for the upcoming school year on a contract basis in Port Charlotte, FL. This role involves serving K-12 students and individuals up to 22 years old with moderate to severe speech and language needs, including those with behavioral challenges. The SLP will provide comprehensive services, including evaluations, direct therapy, consultations, and Medicaid documentation, while supervising a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to support therapy delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech and language evaluations for students from PreK through age 22
- Deliver direct speech and language therapy tailored to moderate to severe communication needs
- Provide consultative services to educators and families
- Collaborate on Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and document student progress
- Supervise and guide an SLPA in providing therapeutic support
- Manage Medicaid billing in compliance with regulations
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid Speech Language Pathology license and certification appropriate for school settings
- Experience working with students with moderate to severe speech/language impairments and behavioral challenges
- Ability to conduct evaluations, provide therapy, and participate actively in IEP meetings
- Proven leadership in supervising and mentoring support staff such as SLPAs
- Strong communication skills and collaborative approach
