HVAC BIM / VDC Design Engineer – Residential Multifamily (Chiller & Condenser Water Systems)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced HVAC BIM/VDC Design Engineer to support the design and coordination of residential multifamily projects, with a strong focus on chilled water and condenser water systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of HVAC design principles, mechanical systems integration, and Revit-based BIM workflows within a collaborative, multi-discipline environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed HVAC system designs for residential and mixed-use multifamily buildings, focusing on chilled water and condenser water systems.
- Create and manage 3D BIM models in Revit to ensure coordination and clash-free designs.
- Collaborate with architects, structural, electrical, and plumbing teams to ensure seamless design integration.
- Prepare construction documents, including plans, sections, schematics, and schedules.
- Conduct system load calculations, equipment selection, and energy analysis.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and clients to resolve design and field issues.
- Maintain design standards, templates, and model accuracy in line with company and project requirements.
- Support VDC coordination meetings and clash detection using Navisworks or similar tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of HVAC design experience, ideally with multifamily residential or commercial buildings.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and Navisworks Manage.
- Strong understanding of BIM workflows, model coordination, and clash detection processes.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, HVAC codes, and energy efficiency requirements.
- Experience with load calculation software (e.g., Trane Trace, Carrier HAP).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Familiarity with construction administration and field coordination.
- Experience with mechanical contractors or design-build environments.
Compensation:
- Competitive base salary $150k to $160k + Package
