Job Title: Facilities Technician – Shift Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Chief Engineer
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY: The Shift Engineer works both independently and collaboratively with other team members to perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks across the property. This role is responsible for general service equipment repairs and maintenance, ensuring mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural issues are addressed efficiently and safely. The technician also assists with the documentation of repairs, supporting the goals and policies of the company in a high-quality and safe work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Fix minor structural damages, such as window, door, and wall repairs.
· Perform basic rough and finished carpentry in construction and repair of structures.
· Handle drywall repair, painting, and power washing to maintain the aesthetic quality of the facility.
· Repair broken or leaking plumbing fixtures and prevent water damage.
· Perform basic electrical repairs, including outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures.
· Basic HVAC equipment upkeep, such as filter changes and checking thermostat functionality to ensure proper climate control.
· Apply preventative actions (e.g., roof sealing) to minimize future issues.
· Address potential safety hazards or report them to management for larger issues.
· Repair doors, hinges, drawers, handles, and furniture.
· Perform tile installation and repair and handle minor concrete repairs.
· Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
· Provide engineering support during large events as needed.
· Assist in moving furniture or large items when necessary.
· Use CMMS to review work orders and efficiently prioritize daily tasks.
· Participate in and support the Engineering Department’s Preventative Maintenance (PM) Program.
- Performs cleaning of swimming pools and filters.
· Ensure work areas are cleaned upon task completion.
· Troubleshoot, plan and execute minor mechanical repairs.
· Assist with special projects assigned by Chief Engineer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience in maintenance, construction, or handyman services.
· Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
· Ability to perform physical tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments.
· Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
· Adherence to safety protocols and company procedures.
· Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a maintenance or engineering environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry and plumbing.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· CPO Certificate preferred
· OSHA 10 Hour Preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Fluent English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, taste, and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust to focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is of those characteristics to fulfill the above objectives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
