What NBC Telemundo Will Bring to Miami

NBC Telemundo

This past February, Telemundo announced plans to construct their brand new, state-of-the-art global headquarters at the Beacon Lakes Industrial park in Miami. Situated on 21 acres of land, this 450,000 sq. ft broadcast facility, funded by NBCUniversal and parent company Comcast, is the first of it’s kind in South Florida. It’s the largest investment that Miami has ever made in a multimedia and broadcast facility – one of over $250 million dollars. After a record-breaking year, Telemundo, who broadcasts the annual Billboard Latin Music Awards, felt that the expansion was imperative with the direction the growth of the company is headed.

The headquarters will bring together under one roof all of the properties owned by NBCUniversal’s Hispanic franchises: Telemundo Network, Telemundo Studios, Telemundo Digiial, Telemundo Internacional, NBC Universo, and NBCU International. Having all of these corporate offices together in one location will allow for maximum collaborative efforts, as well boundless growth potential.  The high-tech facility will favorably impact Miami’s economy by generating an abundance of jobs, and producing an estimated $400 million in sales for Florida businesses. The broadcast campus is expected to create 3,000 jobs in the construction industry alone, and after completion, will house approximately 1,300 employees. The new facility will have prime Florida Turnpike visibility, and offer direct access to the city’s major roads.

In addition to having a positive impact on the local economy, the expansion also signifies the confidence and trust that NBCUniversal has placed in the potential of the Hispanic market, as well as their ardent dedication to South Florida. David L. Cohen, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, Comcast Corporation, clarified, “As the country’s largest provider of Spanish-language programming, we are excited about the development of this new headquarters and the opportunities it will provide as we further build on our strong commitment to the Hispanic community nationwide.” They hope to complete construction of the facility in time for the World Cup in 2018.
