Bartender

Summary: Prepares and serves alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to members and guests by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties maybe assigned:

  • Performs set-up, maintains and breakdowns bars based upon location, in a clean efficient manner.
  • Interacts with members and guests, taking orders and serving drinks, snacks, and food.
  • Prepares alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for members and guests.
  • Assess members and guests’ needs and preferences and makes recommendations.
  • Selects and mixes ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
  • Serves wine or bottled beer.
  • Enters all orders, processes charges and payments in the POS system (JONAS).
  • Slices, pits and prepares fruit garnishes for drinks.
  • Maintains a well-stocked bar with an adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, snacks, napkins, straws, glassware, and other accessories.
  • Cleans the bar, tables, chairs and work area to maintain a sanitary environment.
  • Polishes glasses.
  • Performs inventory as needed.
  • Verifies the identification and age of members and guests to ensure compliance with legal drinking age.
  • Adheres to all Club food and beverage handling safety and sanitation policies and procedural training.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of POS systems.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
