Summary:

The Sr. Accounting Manager will have primary responsibility over the Procurement Cycle as well as general accounting responsibilities for leasing and service divisions as required for month end close. This position reports directly to the VP Accounting and assists with leasing contract review, the services division, statutory audit work, and other requests as needed. The Sr. Accounting Manager ensures that the assigned day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, policies, and objectives.


Responsibilities:

  • Handles all substantive and SOX requests related to the Procurement Cycle.
  • Core responsibility for the Service division journal entries and financial statements; including review of the monthly customer invoices generated by the billing department.
  • Provides a back-up to the Accounting Manager.
  • Assists the Leasing division with review of contract set-up.
  • Review the accounts payable aging and transaction journal on daily basis to ensure proper coding of invoices.
  • Monthly responsibility for the general ledger for the revaluation of foreign currencies and providing foreign divisions with the exchange rates for close.
  • Assist the VP of Accounting and the Assistant Controller with annual statutory audits.
  • Setting task goals and deadlines for direct reports.
  • Provide assistance to the tax department as needed for various requests.
  • Provide assistance to the finance department as needed for various requests.
  • Preparation and review of journal entries and workpapers as part of month end close.
  • Reviewing analyses and supporting schedules for year-end audits and for interim management review reports.
  • Interfaces with managers and staff within the organization as well as outside customers, vendors, and auditors in such a way as to demonstrate a helpful, cooperative, knowledgeable attitude without relinquishing internal control and procedure responsibilities.


Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Successful prior supervisory experience with strong emphasis in general managerial or public accounting (including supervision of accounts receivable and accounts payable).
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience. Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Previous knowledge of sales tax is a plus.
  • Excellent theoretical understanding of accounting and auditing principles, exceptionally strong analytical skills, and the ability to be attentive to details.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with automated accounting systems in a networked environment. Proficiency in MS Excel or similar spreadsheet software and MS Word or similar word processing software.
