Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc. (FRLS) is a non-profit law firm that provides free civil legal aid to eligible individuals, families, and vulnerable communities across 13 Florida counties, as well as to farm workers statewide. The receptionist will be available from 8:30am – 5:00pm, M-F to greet visitors to the office and answer the phone. They will lend administrative and secretarial support to all office staff. The administrative duties of this position are as follows but may be altered at the discretion of your immediate supervisor.
Requirements:
1. Greet visitors who enter the office and direct them appropriately.
2. Sort, date stamp, and distribute incoming mail.
3. Copy, collate and scan documents brought by clients and as requested by staff.
4. Refer prospective clients who cannot be served by the agency to the appropriate service provider including any available outreach center or Florida Bar services.
5. Perform word processing and occasional typing assignments as requested.
6. Assist in community events.
7. Maintain and prepare statistical information relative to clients.
8. Answer incoming calls and transfer the call or send a case note to the appropriate staff member, if covering the intake line.
9. Screen prospective clients in an emergency. Maintain case files as other duties allow.
10.Take outgoing mail to the post office daily.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Some knowledge of the legal system, commitment to the mission of FRLS and compassion for the clients, preferred.
3. Ability to forge positive relationships with prospects, colleagues and the community.
4. Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
6. Must be able to effectively and efficiently maximize the use of existing resources.
7. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), preferred.
8. Must be able to effectively work in high pressure situations which involve deadlines.
9. Proficient in English and bilingual in Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred.
Working Conditions
This position operates in a professional office environment.
Physical Requirements
This is a largely sedentary role however, some lifting of office supplies up to 20 pounds may be required.

Salary and Benefits
The starting salary for this position is $30,000, which is based on a union scale and adjusted upward depending on experience. FRLS offers a very generous benefits package that includes 403(b) with employer-paid contribution; health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) for employees and their dependents; paid leave (up to 5 weeks of PTO, 2 personal days, and 13 holidays). FRLS Receptionists operate in an in-office environment, requiring work in their assigned office five days a week.
