Job Summary:

Accounting Manager The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the law firm. This includes managing the law firm's general ledger, operating accounts, trust accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for preparing financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, and ensuring compliance with all accounting principles and regulations. Additionally, the role includes assisting with the owners' smaller online businesses. This position requires a strong understanding of legal accounting, including trust accounts and client billing procedures.

Responsibilities:

Annually

  • Prepare and send 1099s
  • Submit taxes
  • Renew malpractice insurance and State of FL registration (Sunbiz.org)
  • Review and renew healthcare policies
  • Prepare personal financial report for LOCs

Daily

  • Manage accounts payable and payroll transfers
  • Record deposits in Centerbase (firm’s case management system)
  • Print and distribute Trust and PI checks
  • Maintain Positive Pay for accounts
  • Prepare and send management reports

Monthly

  • Reconcile trust and bank accounts
  • Review and reconcile AMEX and balance sheet accounts
  • Submit sales tax reports
  • Pay contractors and check AMEX transactions

Weekly

  • Process payroll
  • Handle ACH transfers and payroll guarantees
  • Review attorney productivity and bonus sheets
  • Reconcile PI advanced client costs
  • Pay removal teams and review commission reports
  • Manage accounts payable and personal AMEX transactions

As Needed

  • Dispute chargebacks and process PI closings
  • Respond to client accounting emails
  • Manage distributions/contributions and 529 expenses
  • Process credit card transactions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a management role.
  • Prior experience working in a law firm or professional services environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of legal accounting principles, including trust accounting and IOLTA regulations.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (including QuickBooks and Centerbase Legal Software) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Hours:

8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
