Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Risk Control Officer to join our banking clients team. This role is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the bank’s operational risk and control frameworks. The ideal candidate will possess a high degree of independent judgment and a strong analytical mindset to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across our business units. You will be a key liaison between business leaders, audit teams, and senior management, helping to foster a robust control environment and drive alignment with the bank's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Assessment & Management:
- Lead the independent review and analysis of operational risk events to identify root causes and implement corrective action plans.
- Evaluate external industry and regulatory incidents, assessing their relevance and recommending proactive control enhancements.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive inventory of business processes and track risks related to products, services, and operations.
Control Framework & Compliance:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Compliance, Technology, Fraud) to validate and document controls within the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA).
- Review control testing results and conduct quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and adherence to established standards.
- Serve as the Issues Management Coordinator, ensuring all issues are consistently documented, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Act as a trusted advisor to the business, communicating the status of RCSAs and identifying risks that exceed the bank’s appetite.
- Engage with product and service owners to assess risk in new offerings and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in risk management, internal controls, or compliance within the banking or financial services industry.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Deep knowledge of banking regulations, operational risk frameworks, and control methodologies.
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and propose effective solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively manage relationships with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply guidance from legal and regulatory publications.
