SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Comfortable talking with small groups of people.

  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and adjust to change with ease.

  • Experience with training and scheduling people.

  • Experience with Google Suites and willingness to learn new software programs

  • Strong organizational skills and personal time management

  • Willingness to work in a variety of settings, including an office environment, pantry/warehouse, and in the field, providing services

  • Passion for our mission and commitment to the work required to deliver our program services.

  • Experience working on small teams with large goals.

SCHEDULE AND AVAILABILITY:

This is a full-time, hourly position working 32-40 hours per week. The schedule will have seasonal programming variances.

Employees may be required to attend events and/or be available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the Organization. Employees may be required to work in a variety of locations to provide services throughout the year.

OVERVIEW:

Food For Thought is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization in Florida, serving Walton and Okaloosa Counties. It works to fight child hunger through five year-round programs designed to address the negative impacts of Child Hunger on the lives of Food-Insecure children in grades K-12.

FFT is interviewing for a talented and experienced Coordinator with strong communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will hold an enthusiasm for working with people, training, scheduling, and teamwork. This role requires working at both of our pantry locations, spending time training during our year-round programs, and a schedule that meets the needs of our seasonal services. The Program and Volunteer Coordinator will support the training and scheduling of our volunteer base and support the program operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Orientation and training for new volunteers.

  • Manage and track new volunteer interest.

  • Lead new volunteer training and orientation.

  • Manage the volunteer schedule.

  • Support seasonal events to engage new & current volunteers

  • Maintain accurate volunteer information in the shared tools

  • Maintain accurate volunteer files, both paper and digital

  • Model the service standards across all programs

  • Be proactive in sharing information with the leadership team

  • Lead packing groups throughout the year to support engagement.

  • Work during the program services throughout the year.

SHARED DUTIES:

  • Support year-round programs through packing, shipment, inventory, delivery, and distribution of services.

  • Daily and weekly opening/closing duties

  • Weekly program planning

  • Move resources between locations as needed

  • Maintain accurate information in the shared tools.

  • Work as a team to support the needs of the organization.

  • Team members are advocates and representatives of our work and hold a shared passion for the Mission and Values of our Organization.

  • Facility and equipment care and maintenance.

CONDITIONS OF WORK:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to the elements, including wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, and rain. This position requires travel within the service areas of the organization and requires the employee to regularly drive a company vehicle.

Employees are frequently required to climb, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
