Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Kitchen Manager to oversee daily operations in a fast-paced food service environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary knowledge, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role involves managing kitchen staff, ensuring food safety standards, controlling inventory, and maintaining high-quality food production across casual dining, fine dining, catering, and banquet settings. The Kitchen Manager will play a pivotal role in fostering a collaborative team environment while ensuring operational excellence.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate all kitchen activities, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet quality standards.
- Oversee inventory control, ordering supplies, and managing food costs using systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS.
- Train and develop kitchen staff on food safety, proper handling, sanitation procedures, and culinary techniques.
- Manage shift schedules, monitor labor costs, and ensure efficient workflow during peak hours in quick service or full-service restaurant settings.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and oversee POS operations including cash handling procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations related to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to deliver seamless customer service experiences.
- Assist in menu planning, new product development, and maintaining consistency in food quality.
- Lead team meetings, conduct interviews for new hires, and participate in staff performance evaluations.
- Manage budgets related to food costs and labor to optimize profitability while maintaining high standards of hospitality.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in restaurant management or kitchen management within casual dining, fine dining, catering, or banquet environments.
- Extensive culinary experience with knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety protocols.
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS; cash handling experience is essential.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to train staff and manage teams effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills with experience in inventory control, budgeting, and cost management.
- Prior supervisory experience in hospitality or food service management is required.
- Knowledge of food industry standards including sanitation regulations and HACCP guidelines.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle guest concerns professionally.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Hospitality management background including hotel or bar experience is a plus; culinary training or certification is preferred.
