POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
As the primary face of the company in the field, an Outside Sales Representative has a direct impact on revenue growth, market penetration, and client satisfaction. Proactive outreach and ability to close deals drives both the company’s immediate project pipeline and its long-term sustainability. By cultivating strategic relationships and aligning customer needs with company capabilities, this role is critical in upholding the Dock Experts reputation as a trusted leader in marine construction and related industries. Responsibilities include generating new business and expanding client relationships within the marine, regular site visits for in-person consultations, active prospecting across waterfront markets, building trust with property owners, contractors, engineers, and permitting agencies, and collaborating with internal teams to deliver customized proposals for docks, seawalls, piers, boat lifts and dock accessories. A strong understanding of local environmental regulations, permitting processes, and construction timelines will be essential to success in the role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Lead Generation: Proactively identify and pursue new sales opportunities through referrals, personal/professional network, and attending local industry or related events
Pipeline Management: Build and manage an open and active pipeline. Perform appropriate preparation, communication, and follow-up on all leads/customers
Site Visits: Perform sales calls with both company-generated and self-generated leads
Proposal Generation: Develop proposals that adhere to company pricing and product strategies and align with long-term organizational goals and standards
Sales Goals: Close business that meets or exceeds targeted sales quotas
Project Collaboration: Perform introductions and involve other departments throughout different job phases to facilitate timeliness, smooth customer experience, and a positive end-to-end experience
Solicit Feedback: Promote positive consumer perception by soliciting public platform ratings, such as Google, Yelp, and Facebook
Daily Activity Logging: Document all sales and related activities in the CRM and company reporting on a daily basis
Meetings: Actively participate in weekly sales meetings, trainings, and results review
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent
Proven track record in sales, preferably within the marine construction, in-home services, or related industries
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively present solutions and alternatives
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships, and providing outstanding customer service and follow-through
Self-motivated, results-driven, goal oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing market dynamics
Active, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to meet with clients and attend industry events as required
Ability to pass examination to comply with our drug-free workplace policy
Coachability and willingness to learn and adapt
Proficient in basic technology and computer skills/software, such as Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Salesforce or equivalent cloud-based CRM systems and services, touch screens, and DocuSign or equivalent
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS
Associate's degree or higher in Sales, Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field
In-depth knowledge of marine construction products, services, and project requirements
Familiarity with GIS mapping software
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
