Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant II will engage in high level accounting review, maintenance of complex workbooks and documentation, and financial statement preparation for internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will also act as the bridge between Accounting Operations and Financial Reporting functions within the Finance Team and therefore requires a full understanding of the financial statements, debits and credits, and a keen eye on how such mechanics and balances translate specifically to the Company. This senior role is expected to be a quick learner, self-sufficient, and reliable with a go-getter mentality to deliver results in a consistent, timely, and accurate manner.
Job Description:
Core areas of responsibility are:
- Reviewing the accuracy of transactional and departmental GL data driving the integrity of the Company’s financial statement line items (detailed balance sheet focus, with high level oversight of P&L).
- Collaborating and following up directly with relevant department personnel across the organization in a timely and efficient manner to gather relevant understanding and information.
- Exercising attention to detail in complex workbooks for key financial statement line items based on relevant accounting standards and research thereof.
- Performing reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts, with a careful understanding of relevant offset account impacts (ex: inventory balances, AR/AP, PP&E, intercompany transactions, etc.).
- To obtain an in-depth understanding of biological, harvest, and sales information to clerically recognize any deviations, follow up accordingly, and to then use such vetted information towards allocation of cost of production, cost of goods sold, and finished goods inventory.
- To prepare periodic journal entries and accruals (ex: payroll, estimated loan interest, and month-end cutoff transactions).
- Staff Accountant, Prepare and review journal entries, support external audit requests, participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Reconcile intercompany balance across subsidiaries.
- Own the review and recording of international books.
- Perform Income Statements Trend Reviews and assist Accounting Manager to ensure correct accruals and coding.
- Analyze and report financial information on the Company’s construction, investment, and operational projects, which include an in-depth understanding of project structure, forecast movements, and related cost tracking.
- Review each invoice/AIA requisition for clerical accuracy, errors, or omitted information before submitting to Accounts Payable for processing and payment.
- Collaborating with members across the Finance Team and organization to ensure smooth monthly and periodic financial statement close, along with other ad-hoc requests.
- To actively support and collaborate with the Finance Team and all other individuals and teams across the organization.
- To continuously drive, implement, and monitor initiatives across internal controls to streamline and enhance accounting processes and quality.
- To proactively stive for growth and development at a personal and global level to identify and develop new value-adding initiatives and strategic projects, while simultaneously being open and adaptable to change.
Skills, competences, and knowledge to perform the work
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (master’s degree and CPA preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public accounting; additional private industry preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong financial and accounting analytical skills with thorough knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and financial statement preparation.
- Highly organized with the ability to plan, prioritize, and efficiently multitask while consistently adhering to deadlines towards results-driven goals on a timely basis to quality standards.
- Works proactively to provide value to both core responsibilities, potential improvements, and future goals.
- An individual of exceptional integrity and trust, and a team player with a positive attitude who can collaborate with mutual respect across all departments and levels within the Company.
- Superior proficiency with Excel and ERP systems (Microsoft F&O experience preferred).
Work Environment
Hybrid - onsite in combined office and farm/production environment and work-from-home
Schedule
- Monday through Friday standard business hours
- Ad-hoc scheduling for key deadlines and requests as needed
