Job DescriptionPosition Overview

The Director of Fundraising is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all fundraising and development initiatives to support the mission and sustainability of our 501(c)(3) organization. This individual will cultivate meaningful relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, and community partners, ensuring the organization meets and exceeds its annual and long-term fundraising goals.

This role requires a results-driven professional with a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, grant acquisition, and donor engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Fundraising & Development

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, annual giving, events, and planned giving.

  • Set annual fundraising goals, track progress, and adjust strategies as needed to ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.

  • Identify, research, and pursue new funding opportunities to diversify revenue streams.

  • Collaborate with leadership to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and programs.

Donor Relations & Stewardship

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation partners.

  • Oversee donor recognition and stewardship programs to ensure timely acknowledgment and meaningful engagement.

  • Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and impact reports for donors and partners.

Grant Management

  • Research and identify relevant grant opportunities from public and private sources.

  • Write and submit grant proposals, manage reporting requirements, and maintain accurate records of all grant activities.

Events & Campaigns

  • Plan and oversee fundraising events, campaigns, and donor engagement initiatives that raise both awareness and revenue.

  • Work with the marketing and communications team to promote campaigns and share impact stories.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Manage and mentor fundraising staff, volunteers, and committees involved in development activities.

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to engage them in fundraising strategies and donor outreach.

  • Maintain fundraising records and provide regular reports to the Executive Director and Board.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven success in nonprofit fundraising or development leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to secure major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Knowledge of donor management software and fundraising analytics.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Passion for the organization’s mission and the ability to inspire others to support it.
