Position Summary:
The Safety & Training Officer will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and enhancing safety procedures and training initiatives in accordance with FAA, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will have strong aviation knowledge, proven supervisory experience, and a proactive approach to promoting a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities:


Safety Program Support:

  • Develop, deliver, and monitor safety and compliance training programs across the organization, including new hire orientation, recurrent training, and role-specific safety protocols.
  • Maintain and update the companys Safety Management System (SMS) and assist with internal safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard reports.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with FAA, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning to prevent future occurrences.
  • Maintain records of safety-related incidents, training, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment.

Training Program Support:

  • Assist in the design, development, and delivery of comprehensive training programs for all employees, focusing on safety practices, equipment use, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all training and safety practices align with FAA regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date training records and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Collaborate with department managers to identify training needs and align programs with operational goals.

Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:

  • Stay current on FAA, OSHA, and other relevant safety standards, ensuring the facility meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of required safety reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.
  • Support safety-related inspections and audits by regulatory agencies.

Continuous Improvement and Culture Building:

  • Promote a safety-first culture by supporting safety committees and engagement activities.
  • Monitor and report safety KPIs to senior leadership.
  • Stay up to date with industrys best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in all training and safety initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in aviation safety or training, preferably in an MRO or Part 145 environment.; Associate's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in safety and training coordination, preferably in aviation or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations (Part 145), OSHA standards, and applicable safety protocols.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification required; OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
  • Experience with SMS implementation and auditing processes.
  • Proficiency in MyFAA software, including training record management, reporting, and compliance tracking.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Ability to work in both office and production floor environments.
  • FAA certification is a strong plus.
  • Ability to lead safety meetings and conduct stand-ups with all levels of staff.
