General Purpose:
The Discipleship Coordinator reports directly to the Discipleship Pastor and specializes in providing administrative and ministerial support for our Discipleship Environments (Small Groups and Classes) at CalvaryPSL. This includes building relationships with potential and current leaders, regularly keeping online systems and workflows up to date, and assisting in the development and implementation of programs that exist to recruit, equip and empower leaders. In addition, the Discipleship Coordinator assists and supports the Discipleship Pastor in out of ordinary events under the departments oversight such as conferences, discipleship connect, baptism and communion, leader dinners, and other special events.
Essential Job Functions:
Ministry Partners/Volunteers
- Assist Discipleship Pastor with periodically connecting with Discipleship Leaders virtually and in person to provide counsel, support, and prayer as needed.
- Make initial contact with candidates to answer questions and begin the process of becoming Discipleship Leaders.
- Participate in meetings with Discipleship Pastor and volunteers as needed to problem solve, strategize, or help reconcile conflicts that may be taking place in a Calvary Group or Class.
Discipleship Administration
- Update Information of Calvary Groups and Classes on Planning Center as needed.
- Manage Discipleship Department email, answering questions about the department and forwarding higher level needs or concerns to the right person or department.
- Oversee department workflows including, but not limited to: Baptism, New Believers, and Discipleship Leader Candidates.
Programs and Out of Ordinary Events
- Assist in the planning and execution of out of ordinary events within the department, such as baptism and communion, leader dinners, conferences, discipleship connect, and other events.
- Develop and implement programs and events designed to strengthen and facilitate Womens Discipleship at CalvaryPSL.
- Work with the Creative Arts Department on communications, graphics, and media used to promote programs and events within the department.
- Partner with communications coordinator on sending baptism certificates to individuals who were baptized.
Department:
- Meet with the Discipleship Pastor for weekly one-on-one meetings.
- Participate in monthly department meetings.
- Assist the Discipleship Pastor in completing Ministry Reports for the Department.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a professing and practicing Christian, growing in faith.
- 1 year of ministry experience, or education equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and onboarding
- Proficiency in using church management software. Specific experience with Planning Center is preferred.
- Ability to develop new and innovative systems and processes that help the church with its mission.
- A relational and engaging personality that values people over the completion of tasks.
- Ability to work in team settings in addition to working independently.
- Adaptable to situations that require adjusting hours and schedule for out of ordinary events.
- Ability to manage projects and tasks that may have sudden changes in their objectives and deadlines.
- Has a positive all hands on deck and whatever it takes attitude.
- Understands and agrees with CalvaryPSLs statement of faith, mission, and core commitments.
- Agrees and adheres to CalvaryPSLs biblical lifestyle agreement.
Additional Comments:
This position performs Ministerial duties, which include:
- Praying with people.
- Providing Biblical guidance, assistance, and spiritual wisdom to individuals dealing with personal issues.
- Leading and/or actively participating in Discipleship Environments.
- Assisting with administering the ordinances of baptism and communion.
- Organizing and directing ministry programs within your area.
- Leading and/or participating in outreach endeavors.
- Supervising the Churchs administration and finances within your area.
