Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant / Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians and the clinical team in delivering high-quality animal care. The ideal candidate will assist with patient handling, medical procedures, client communication, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support

Safely restrain animals during examinations and procedures

Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, treatments, and minor procedures

Monitor patient behavior, vital signs, and recovery
-
Administer medications and treatments as directed (within scope of certification)

Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
Laboratory & Medical Tasks

Collect and prepare samples (blood, urine, fecal, etc.)

Perform basic laboratory tests and record results

Maintain accurate medical records and treatment logs

Clean, sterilize, and organize medical instruments and equipment
Client Interaction

Greet and assist clients in a professional and compassionate manner

Educate pet owners on basic care, medications, and post-treatment instructions

Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and handle basic inquiries
Facility & Team Support

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinic environment

Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols

Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies

Collaborate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff
Qualifications
Required:
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Genuine interest in animal care and welfare
-
Ability to handle animals safely and humanely

Strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
-
Veterinary Assistant certification or Veterinary Technician license (or in progress) beneficial

Prior experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting

Knowledge of basic animal anatomy, medical terminology, and procedures
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods
-
Ability to lift and restrain animals (up to 35lbs, with assistance as needed)

Comfortable working around animals, including those that may be stressed or injured
Work Environment

Indoor clinical setting with exposure to animals, medical equipment, and cleaning agents

May include evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on clinic hours
