POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Training and Compliance Loadmaster is responsible for the review and development of training materials and curricula, provides instruction to personnel, completion of training records, conducts station audits and surveillance, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and Amerijet safety standards. Support other activities such as Loadmaster duties, special cargo reviews, cargo buildup assistance, staff evaluations, peak season station representation, and participates in working groups for special projects as required by the Company. When the Manager of Loadmaster Operations is unavailable or during an extended leave from the office, the Senior Training and Compliance Loadmaster is responsible for the administration and supervision of the Loadmaster team to maintain continuity during the absence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned from time to time.
- Responsible for developing, reviewing, analyzing, and updating ground operations training
materials and curricula
- Provide training and related activities to Amerijet employees, authorized representatives, or vendor personnel
- Responsible to conduct station audits, vendor program reviews, and surveillance of cargo operations procedures and activities
- Special cargo reviews, analysis, load planning, and provides guidance on loading alternatives and the necessary support equipment (i.e. number of straps, loader requirements, etc.)
- Provide prompt response to special cargo requests
- Responsible for administration and supervision of the Loadmaster team during the absence of the Manager of Loadmaster Operations
- Supervise and support safe aircraft loading and offloading operations
- Directs and supervises all labor groups who perform aircraft loading and unloading activities to ensure maximum levels of safety, efficiency and legality are maintained to prevent injury to personnel, damage to cargo, equipment and the aircraft
- Acts as liaison in the field between Amerijet and its customers, vendors and authorities to ensure the highest levels of safety, efficient cargo operations schedule integrity and compliance with government regulations
- Prepares weight and balance, dangerous goods and security documents, as applicable
- Ensures all cargo intended for carriage on the aircraft is properly packaged, labeled, restrained, weighed and documented per Amerijet standards and government requirements
- Operates the aircraft cargo doors and systems and promptly reports any missing, damaged or unserviceable components to the appropriate Amerijet personnel
- Customs, immigration and other government agency requirements for international flights
- Supervision of all cargo-related functions related to the flight, including inspection of ULDs, nets and equipment for airworthiness in accordance with the established manufacturers’ guidelines
- Must account for the planned load, consider all aircraft restrictions, limitations and the load sequencing required to safely transport the cargo
- Must ensure the offload and load verification procedures are followed and the verification form completed as described in the Amerijet’s Weight and Balance Manual and the COM
- Accomplishing a complete check of the load prior to departure. This includes checking all locks, as applicable, to verify these are engaged and properly secured
- Make any necessary documentation corrections due to loading discrepancies to ensure the Flight Release/Weight and Balance form reflects the actual load on the aircraft before providing to the Pilot-In-Command
- Verifies the location of all dangerous goods loaded on Amerijet aircraft and ensures packages do not have any signs of leakage or have been compromised
- Ensures all dangerous goods documentation and the NOTOC (notification to Captain) is presented and provided to the Pilot-In-Command for final review and acceptance.
- Ensure all international paperwork (i.e. Gen Dec, etc.) and cargo documents are on board the aircraft prior to departure
- Performs Ground Security Coordinator (GSC) functions as outlined in the GSC training
- Completes forms and submits movement messages, Loadmaster Trip report, etc. in a timely manner
- Supports station ramp operations and aircraft loading and offloading, as appropriate
- Responsible for achieving all Flight Operations procedures goals regarding performance, safety, service, and regulatory compliance
- Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
- Develop or revise operations procedures that would enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency
- Proactive in anticipating problems and initiating actions to solve issues regarding ground operations procedural matters
- Maintain and protect the proper use of all company property
- Must be qualified to perform all aspects of ground operations including Weight and Balance, Dangerous Goods, Security, Special Loads, etc.
- Must be willing to perform all other activities and special projects as directed by the Manager of Loadmaster of Operations
- Recognizes opportunities to control costs and supports corporate initiatives accordingly
- Be knowledgeable of company policies and procedures to include relating the interpretation of such to subordinates.
- Asses if procedural changes are required/needed and assist said implementation to the company’s Cargo Operations Manual or any other related manual
- Additional duties assigned by the Flight Operations and Loadmaster management
JOB PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Meet pre-determined budget targets for the department.
- Ensure training is completed per procedure.
- Perform employee reviews on time.
- Maintain on-time performance goals.
- Ensure subordinate performance levels meet standards established.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of applicable FAA, TSA and CBP regulations including standard security programs such as OSHA and DERM regulations
- Must have the ability to communicate both oral and written in a professional manner
- Knowledge and/or certification of Hazardous Materials handling
- Knowledge of the rulemaking process and ability to provide input to the process in the Company’s best interest
- Computer literate and specific background in the required subject areas
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Individuals must possess a valid driver’s license and have maintained a safe driving record
- Detailed knowledge of Ground Handling requirements, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
- Knowledge of IATA ground handling procedures (SGHA)
- Knowledge of IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO)
- College Degree in aviation or the equivalent experience in management of cargo/freight handling including customer service, and ground handling of commercial aircraft
- Must have a valid unrestricted U.S. Passport and willing to travel as part of the job
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear. The employee is often required to climb, kneel, crawl or crouch down. There is minimal sitting in this job while operating at the ramp. The employee may be asked to carry 70# or less, occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
TRAVEL:
Must have an unrestricted US Passport and be able to travel domestically and internationally.
This position requires domestic and international travel up to 85% percent of the time, including staying at locations abroad for up to 30 days.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- College degree preferred
- A self-starter is required, must be able to work effectively with minimal to no supervision.
- Administration skills and proficient computer skills are mandatory
- Prior training facilitating skills
- Certified weight and balance or load planning preferred
- Certified in acceptance, loading, stowage, and handling of dangerous goods preferred
- Certified in airline Security program
- Prior airline/freight forwarding experience is preferred
- Excellent organizational skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Bilingual English Spanish desired, but not necessary
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to read, speak and understand English. Able to correspond in writing and verbally in a professional manner
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Must be able to supervise a team of up to 20 staff members.
Language Skills:
- The employee must possess good interpersonal and communications skills, be able to effectively present information, and respond to questions from managers and co-workers.
