Manzo Food Sales is a fast-growing, family-owned Italian food importer and distributor, serving national wholesale, foodservice, and e-commerce customers since 1979. Our business is built on product integrity, supply chain reliability, and disciplined warehouse execution.
As we continue to scale our food import and distribution network, we are seeking a hands-on Warehouse & Facilities Manager to lead daily warehouse operations and manage a team of 20+ employees. This is a floor-driven leadership role focused on food handling, inventory accuracy, order flow, and facility compliance.
This position reports directly to the Director of Warehouse Operations and is designed as a growth role, with increasing responsibility tied to performance and operational needs.
Position Summary
- 70% warehouse floor leadership: supervising food handling, inbound imports, outbound distribution, workflow control, and team execution
- 30% administrative: inventory control, reporting, scheduling, process improvement, and carrier coordination
About the Role
This role supports a multi-channel food distribution warehouse, including:
- Imported dry, refrigerated, and specialty Italian food products
- National wholesale and foodservice distribution
- High-volume e-commerce picking and packing
- Forklift-supported palletized inventory and large customer orders
This is not a desk role. The Warehouse & Facilities Manager is expected to work alongside the team, assist during peak periods, and maintain constant visibility into product flow and food-handling practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily food warehouse operations: receiving imported products, put-away, storage, picking, packing, and outbound distribution
- Ensure proper food handling, rotation, labeling, and storage standards are followed
- Work closely with the Director of Warehouse Operations to manage throughput and assume increasing operational ownership
- Lead, train, and coach warehouse staff including forklift operators and fulfillment teams
- Actively assist with picking, packing, palletizing, loading/unloading, and forklift operation as needed
- Maintain accurate inventory levels, lot tracking, cycle counts, and documentation
- Coordinate inbound containers and outbound shipments with common carriers (LTL, FTL, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.)
- Oversee warehouse facilities, sanitation, and vendor-managed maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure a clean, organized, food-safe warehouse environment
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, food safety, sanitation, and company standards
- Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of warehouse team members
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years warehouse or facility management experience
- Food distribution or food warehouse experience strongly preferred
- Proven experience managing 20+ warehouse employees
- Forklift certification and hands-on operating experience
- Strong understanding of food distribution workflows, inventory control, and logistics
- Experience coordinating shipments with common carriers and freight providers
- Comfortable with physical work in a fast-paced food warehouse environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; WMS experience a plus
- Strong leadership, accountability, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize, adapt, and maintain execution under pressure
- Hands-on management style with a strong work ethic
- High school diploma or equivalent required
