Safety Officer - Construction (Shell)

Position Overview
Wen are seeking a Safety Officer to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations on all shell construction projects. This role plays a critical part in fostering a culture of safety by overseeing on-site practices, conducting inspections, and leading training initiatives to protect employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Safety Oversight: Monitor daily construction activities (structural concrete, masonry, framing, roofing) to ensure OSHA and company compliance. Conduct inspections, hazard assessments, and enforce corrective actions.
- Training & Communication: Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training specific to shell construction. Communicate safety rules and emergency procedures effectively.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain safety logs, reports, and inspection records. Verify subcontractor compliance with safety documentation. Support regulatory inspections and audits.
- Incident Response: Act as a first responder during accidents or near-misses. Investigate incidents, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaboration & Improvement: Partner with project managers and subcontractors to resolve issues. Recommend safety enhancements and promote accountability across job sites.
Qualifications
- OSHA 30 required (OSHA 500/510 preferred).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in construction safety (shell construction preferred).
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards (fall protection, scaffolding, trenching, equipment safety).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
