Job DescriptionJob Title: Accounting Manager

This position will oversee key aspects of accounting operations and financial management to ensure accurate reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction/solar energy industry, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and contractor-related financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports and job cost analysis.
• Assist in preparing financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
• Oversee cash management, including monitoring daily cash flow, ensuring adequate cash reserves, managing debt obligations, and forecasting future cash requirements to support business operations and growth.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage multi-state sales and use tax reporting and compliance, ensuring accurate filing and adherence to varying state and local regulations.
• Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party professionals.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency.
• Maintain and track fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
• Record purchases, disposals, and transfers of equipment or property.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff to ensure professional growth and development.
• Provide leadership and training to the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and construction billing (AIA documents and lien waivers).
• Proficiency in accounting software (experience with systems such as Sage 300, Procore, or similar preferred).
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Experience managing and mentoring accounting teams.
