Position Overview
Pet Lovers Animal Clinic is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is a team player who delivers exceptional patient care while maintaining clear, professional communication with clients and colleagues. This position involves assisting doctors in medical, surgical, and dental procedures, performing diagnostics, and providing education and support to pet owners.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Assist veterinarians during physical exams, diagnostics, and surgical procedures.
- Safely and compassionately restrain animals for examinations and treatments.
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, fecal, urine, cytology, etc.).
- Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment (radiology, IDEXX, anesthesia, etc.).
- Monitor patients during anesthesia, recovery, and hospitalization.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in the practice management software.
- Perform dental cleanings, scale/polish teeth, and assist during extractions when needed.
- Ensure all procedures follow clinic protocols and safety standards.
Client Communication & Education
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients regarding their pets’ health.
- Review discharge instructions, treatment plans, and medication guidelines with owners.
- Assist in educating clients about preventive care, nutrition, and post-operative care.
- Follow up with clients after visits or procedures as directed by the veterinarian.
Clinic Support
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment.
- Monitor and manage inventory for medical supplies, vaccines, and medications.
- Support the front desk team as needed with check-ins, invoicing, and client coordination.
