Education
- High school graduate or equivalent
Experience / Qualifications
- Registered with the state of Florida as a Pharmacy Technician
- 2 Years of hospital buyer experience preferred
- Must be able to file, answer telephones, computer order entry, fax
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Self-motivated
- Ability to make sound decisions
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Buyer is responsible for managing the hospital pharmaceutical inventory process, which includes purchasing, stocking, and inventory optimization. This role will assist in training staff on inventory handling.
- Procurement of supplies and equipment ensuring the highest quality at the lowest price available.
- Responsible for sourcing pharmaceuticals and substitutions during shortages.
- Tracks, trends and analyzes Pharmacy inventory, making adjustments in par-levels as needed to meet patient care demands and budget.
- Able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. Responsible for managing the daily functions of team members as applicable.
- Assists the Director of Pharmacy or designee in designing, coordinating and implementing high quality and cost effective pharmacy technician services.
- Adheres to all policies and regulations regarding pharmacy practice.
- Monitors effectiveness of technician services and related policies/procedures and recommends changes, as needed.
- Provides orientation/training to new employees; provides updated information regarding changes in policies/procedures.
- Maintains necessary record-keeping per pharmacy regulations.
- Inspects assigned area(s) on a monthly basis for proper storage and labeling of medications and expired medications; completes necessary inspection documentation.
- Promotes sense of team effort together with pharmacists and technicians. Assists in identifying/researching problems and issues related to department budget and patient billing.
- Attends educational seminars/in-services to maintain or enhance skills and competencies. Adheres to pharmacy policies, procedures, and objectives; maintains a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment.

Physical Requirements
Requires sitting for long periods of time, also stooping, bending, standing, and stretching. Must have manual dexterity for typing and computer data entry. Able to work under a stressful environment, work independently, capable of making sound decisions, be detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs., carry and lift up to 20lbs.

- Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
