Job Overview
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food in a timely and consistent manner in accordance with The Florida Room’s standards. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and a team-oriented attitude. The ideal candidate will ensure cleanliness and compliance with health regulations while contributing to a positive kitchen culture. The line Cook will plan, prep, set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in accordance with departmental quality standards, recipes and plating guide specifications as well as maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Execution:

Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and kitchen guidelines.

Ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation meet established standards.

Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, fryers, ovens, and slicers.

Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.

Ability to prioritize, organize and follow through.

Ability to be a clear thinker, remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment.

Ability to work well under pressure of meeting production schedules and timelines for guests' food orders.

Ability to maintain good coordination.

Ability to transport cases of received goods to the workstation; pots and pans of food from storage/prep areas to the serving line.

Ability to work an 8-hour shift in hot, noisy and sometimes close conditions.

Ability to work with all products and ingredients involved.

Ability to use all senses to ensure quality standards are met.

Ability to differentiate dates on food labeling.

Ability to operate, clean and maintain all equipment required in job functions.

Ability to comprehend and follow recipes.

Ability to expand and condense recipes.

Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision.
Sanitation & Safety:

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen workstations and equipment.

Follow all food safety procedures, including proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients.

Comply with all health and safety regulations, including allergen and cross-contamination protocols.
Team Collaboration:

Communicate clearly with kitchen staff and front-of-house team to ensure smooth service.

Assist with prep work, stocking, and closing duties as needed.

Support the Executive Chef and Kitchen Manager in daily operations.

Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
Inventory & Supplies:

Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies and alert management of shortages or needs.

Properly handle and store food items to prevent spoilage and waste.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and work in a hot, fast-paced environment.
Strength: Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.
Dexterity: Proficient with kitchen utensils, knives, and equipment.
Schedule Flexibility: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on
business needs.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

1+ year experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment required.

Food handler’s certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Strong communication and time management skills.

Passion for culinary excellence and teamwork.
