Fast-forward from its start as a homegrown family business, House of Spices has become a middle-market wholesale/manufacturer which includes multiple distribution networks across the country. Although the business has and continues to expand rapidly, the brand is still family-owned and home-based out of the NYC metro area. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficient receiving, storage, and shipping of goods. The role focuses on maintaining operational excellence, safety compliance, inventory accuracy, and effective communication with internal teams. The Supervisor plays a key role in leading the warehouse staff to achieve productivity, quality, and safety goals aligned with company objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping of goods.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient operations that align with business goals and customer expectations.
  • Monitor workflow and optimize warehouse layout to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate warehouse staff to maintain high performance standards.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide coaching to ensure productivity and quality targets are met.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Act as a liaison between management and warehouse staff, ensuring smooth communication across all levels.
  • Coordinate with the sales team to resolve shipping, receiving, or order-related inquiries promptly.
  • Keep all stakeholders informed of operational changes, challenges, and updates.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and audits.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation, replenishment, and documentation in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies efficiently.
  • Enforce company safety standards and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability within the team.
  • Analyze existing warehouse processes and recommend improvements for greater efficiency.
  • Implement best practices in warehouse layout, workflow design, and inventory management systems.
  • Support the adoption of new technologies and automation tools where applicable.
  • Ensure company fleet operations comply with DOT rules and regulations.
  • Conduct regular checks on driver performance, behavior, and adherence to company policies.
  • Utilize tools such as Manifest, OnFleet, Motive ELDs, and cameras to monitor and improve fleet operations.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
  2. 4-6 years of warehouse supervisory experience.
  3. Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance.
  4. Familiarity with warehouse productivity tools and reporting software.
  5. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  6. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Proficient in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP platforms.
  8. Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  9. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
