Job Overview:

The Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for overseeing financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations within a construction company. This role requires strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, job costing, processing payroll hours to third party and accurately recording and financial reporting. The Senior Bookkeeper works closely with project managers, vendors, and senior management to ensure smooth financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and reconcile financial statements.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

• Job Costing & Project Accounting:

• Track job costs and ensure accurate allocation of expenses to projects.

• Work closely with project managers to review budgets and actual costs.

• Analyze cost variances and provide recommendations for cost control.

• Accounts Payable & Receivable:

• Process vendor invoices, payments, and reconcile accounts payable.

• Issue invoices to clients and follow up on outstanding payments.

• Bank & Account Reconciliation:

• Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.

• Maintain cash flow records and prepare forecasts.

• Prepare and file sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory reports.

• Assist with audits and liaise with external accountants or auditors.

Qualifications & Skills:

• 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in the construction industry.

• Strong knowledge of construction accounting and job costing.

• Proficiency in accounting software

• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
