SOUS CHEF

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team at Bakan Wynwood. As the right hand to our Chef, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of culinary excellence while leading and inspiring our kitchen team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CULINARY EXCELLENCE:
- Execute menu items with precision, ensuring consistent quality and presentation that meets Bakan's exceptional standards
- Supervise food preparation, cooking, and plating during all service periods
- Maintain knowledge of current culinary trends and seasonal ingredients
LEADERSHIP & TEAM MANAGEMENT:
- Lead by example with high standards of discipline, professionalism, and work ethic
- Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff to achieve their full potential
- Effectively communicate with our bilingual team (English-Spanish) to ensure seamless operations
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and excellence
OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT:
- Oversee daily kitchen operations including prep, service, and closing procedures
- Implement and maintain strict cleanliness and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations
- Manage timing and quality control during peak service periods
- Coordinate with FOH team to ensure exceptional guest experiences
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
- Control food costs through proper portioning, waste reduction, and inventory management
- Assist with purchasing decisions and vendor relationships
- Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular stock assessments
- Contribute to menu engineering and pricing strategies
REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role at a high-volume, upscale restaurant
- Proven leadership abilities with experience managing diverse kitchen teams
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills under pressure
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual proficiency (English-Spanish) required
- Flexibility to work any shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
- ServSafe certification required
- Strong knife skills and equipment proficiency
