POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team at Bakan Wynwood. As the right hand to our Chef, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of culinary excellence while leading and inspiring our kitchen team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a culinary professional ready to make their mark in one of Miami's most exciting dining destinations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

CULINARY EXCELLENCE:

  • Execute menu items with precision, ensuring consistent quality and presentation that meets Bakan's exceptional standards
  • Supervise food preparation, cooking, and plating during all service periods
  • Maintain knowledge of current culinary trends and seasonal ingredients

LEADERSHIP & TEAM MANAGEMENT:

  • Lead by example with high standards of discipline, professionalism, and work ethic
  • Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff to achieve their full potential
  • Effectively communicate with our bilingual team (English-Spanish) to ensure seamless operations
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and excellence

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT:

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations including prep, service, and closing procedures
  • Implement and maintain strict cleanliness and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations
  • Manage timing and quality control during peak service periods
  • Coordinate with FOH team to ensure exceptional guest experiences

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Control food costs through proper portioning, waste reduction, and inventory management
  • Assist with purchasing decisions and vendor relationships
  • Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular stock assessments
  • Contribute to menu engineering and pricing strategies


REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role at a high-volume, upscale restaurant
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing diverse kitchen teams
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills under pressure

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual proficiency (English-Spanish) required
  • Flexibility to work any shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
  • ServSafe certification required
  • Strong knife skills and equipment proficiency
