Purpose and Scope

The Client Service Specialist for Community Engagement serves as a frontline representative for constituents seeking assistance at in-person events and engagements. This position primarily supports the community through phone interactions, providing guidance about transactions related to vehicle/vessel registration, driver licensing, tax payments, and related services. This role is an extension of the agency’s community engagement efforts, ensuring equitable access to services through client-focused outreach and support.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours and prior experience in customer service, clerical work, cashiering, data entry, or computer operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Florida Class E driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 21 years old, with no license suspensions, cancellations, or revocations in the past three (3) years. Driving record must show no more than three (3) chargeable motor vehicle crashes or Chapter 316 violations within any three-year period of employment.
  • Must pass a fingerprint-based background check as required by Florida Statute 435.04 and federal regulations (384.228 and 1572.103). This includes no alcohol- or drug-related convictions within 10 years of employment and maintaining these standards throughout employment.

Essential Functions

  • Provides outstanding phone-based customer service to individuals seeking assistance with transactions such as driver licensing, vehicle/vessel titling and registration, hunting and fishing licenses, and business or property tax payments.
  • Performs administrative and clerical tasks, including accurate data entry, photocopying, faxing, supply inventory, and preparation of correspondence or internal reports.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of laws, agency products, policies, and procedures in order to provide accurate information and guidance.
  • Collaborates with the community engagement team to ensure community needs are heard and met with care and efficiency.

Work Conditions:

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization:

Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, passenger vehicles and/or materials used in performing essential functions inclusive of conducting road tests for driver’s license clients.

Physical Ability:

Tasks require the ability to exert physical effort in sedentary to moderate work, with periodic walking, bending, stooping, and some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

Sensory Requirements:

Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals, and to communicate orally and in writing.

Environmental Factors:

Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as rude/irate clients, or weather conditions including sun exposure.

This position requires occasional evening hours, and weekend hours.
