We support infrastructure projects, including roadway, transportation, and transit initiatives, by delivering effective public outreach and strategic communication.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Community Outreach Specialist to lead public engagement efforts for transportation and infrastructure projects that are under construction. This role involves developing and executing outreach strategies, fostering relationships with community stakeholders, and ensuring that public information efforts are inclusive, effective, and aligned with project goals. The ideal candidate has minimum of one year of experience in transportation construction project public information for a government agency.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Outreach Strategy:
- Coordinate with CEI, contractors, and public agencies to deliver accurate project updates.
- Develop and implement Community Awareness Plans (CAPs).
- Identify and engage key stakeholders, including residents, business owners, community leaders.
- Organize and facilitate public meetings, open houses, and pop-up events to inform and gather feedback from the community.
- Monitor public sentiment and concerns.
Public Communications & Messaging:
- Develop outreach materials, including fact sheets, newsletters, presentations, and digital content.
- Collaborate with the communications team to create social media posts, email campaigns, and website updates.
- Ensure public messaging is clear, culturally appropriate, and accessible to diverse audiences.
- Serve as a key point of contact for public inquiries, addressing concerns professionally and proactively.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 1+ year of experience in transportation construction public information.
- Understanding of MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) public notification requirements.
- Experience working on CEI teams or with Design-Build projects.
- Experience developing and executing Community Awareness Plans (CAPs).
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving community needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with social media platforms and design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.).
