About Us:
Bob Hewes Boats is a leading full-service boat dealership known for our long-standing commitment to customer service, quality boats, and reliable marine services. We’re currently seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Operations Manager to oversee daily sales activity and marina operations, including facility management, long-term storage, and boat movement logistics.
Position Overview:
This is a dynamic leadership role that combines sales oversight with operational management of the marina and dealership yard. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine operations and sales, be mechanically inclined, and capable of managing people, equipment, and workflow efficiently. A key part of this role involves operating a forklift, trailering boats, and representing the dealership at boat shows.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Oversight:
- Support the sales team, ensuring strong performance and excellent customer service.
- Assist in setting and achieving monthly and annual sales goals, and completion of paperwork.
- Maintain a professional and customer-focused showroom environment.
Operations & Facility Management:
- Oversee day-to-day marina operations and overall facility cleanliness and organization.
- Manage long-term boat storage logistics, including storage assignments and customer coordination.
- Supervise in-and-out boat movements using forklift, including safe launching and hauling procedures.
- Organize boats efficiently in the yard to maximize space and improve operational flow.
- Coordinate movement and logistics of boats around the yard and between dealership locations as needed.
Forklift & Trailer Duties:
- Operate forklift for moving boats.
- Safely trailer boats to and from boat shows, locations, and service appointments.
- Assist with the setup and teardown of boat displays at shows and represent the company during events.
Service Department Oversight:
- Coordinate with the independent service department to ensure efficient use of marina facilities and equipment.
- Monitor and manage service department usage of shared resources, including forklifts and yard space.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in marine operations, dealership or marina management, and/or boat sales.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate a forklift safely and effectively (certification a plus).
- Skilled in trailering and launching boats of various sizes.
- Clean and valid driver’s license with towing experience required.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and travel to boat shows as needed.
- Professional demeanor and strong customer service skills.
- Knowledge of marine equipment and boat brands is a plus.
