PrideStaff Financial on behalf of a client in Pompano is looking for an experienced Controller who will be responsible for the overall accounting, financial reporting, and compliance functions for the company. Prior experience working for a non-profit is a MUST!
Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting (AP, AR, Payroll, GL).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP for non-profits.
- Manage annual financial audit and serve as primary liaison with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including grant/contract requirements, IRS regulations, restricted/unrestricted and state charitable reporting.
- Develop budgets, monitor cash flow, and provide financial analysis to inform strategic planning.
- Supervise accounting staff and provide mentoring and performance management.
- Maintain and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
- Support development and fundraising teams with financial data for grant proposals, donor reporting, and funding renewals.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least3 years in a leadership role.
- Non-profit accounting experience required, with strong knowledge of fund accounting and grant compliance
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, OMB Uniform Guidance, and IRS regulations for tax-exempt organizations
- Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, MIP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
