As an Environmental Field Technician, you will respond swiftly to environmental emergencies, performing technical field and office work. Your role will involve operating various mechanical equipment, conducting clean-up and decontamination procedures, maintaining inventory lists, and completing reports. You will be responsible for understanding spill response terminology, proper storage, treatment, and disposal of hazardous materials, and performing limited chemical tests. You will communicate effectively with Field Supervisors, interact with the public and clients, and maintain accurate field log books.
Responsibilities
- Respond to environmental emergencies within a 24-hour period.
- Operate mechanical equipment such as Vac Trucks, Super Duster, forklifts, pallet jacks, lift gates, trucks, trailers, and other mechanical equipment as needed.
- Conduct clean-up and decontamination procedures.
- Maintain inventory lists and complete various reports and Field Dailies.
- Understand terminology and principles of spill responses.
- Possess basic knowledge of proper storage, treatment, and disposal of hazardous materials collected during clean-up.
- Be aware of the potential hazards associated with Hazardous Wastes.
- Work well with the public, clients, and other employees.
- Field phone calls and communicate effectively with Field Supervisors.
- Perform limited chemical tests and work around a variety of chemicals.
- Prepare equipment and keep accurate field log books.
- Perform manual labor tasks such as sweeping, shoveling, pushing, and pulling.
Pay is $22.50-29 an hour based on experience.

- Experience with excavator, skid-steer, bulldozer, forklift and other heavy equipment preferred.

Work Environment
This fully on-site position is located in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, requiring work in very hot temperatures, confined spaces, and around hazardous chemicals. You will work at elevated heights and in noisy conditions with heavy industrial equipment. Average work hours are 55 per week, varying between 40 and 80 depending on project demands. The team typically consists of 3-5 members, including a driver, equipment operator, and technician.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
