RISK & SAFETY MANAGER

THE POSITION:

As the Risk & Safety Manager, you will:

  • Risk Management Training
  • Implements, manages, supports the development, maintains, coordinates, and evaluates Goodwill’s various safety and operational internal audit program elements including Hazard Communication, Blood borne Pathogens, OSHA, monthly DGR assessments, administrative departments, Corporate Campus and other related programs to protect Team Member safety and Goodwill’s legal liabilities.
  • Guides and co-designs training ensuring that it is accounted for via Goodwill®U for all areas of responsibility.
  • Facilitates emergency drills and tests, reviews and ensures appropriate documentation.
  • Supports and may conducts new hire orientation, material handling training and Leadership Development Program.
  • Audit, Inspection, and Compliance
  • Develops and recurringly reviews programs required for OSHA compliance.
  • Conducts inspections of facilities, equipment and investigates accidents, complaints and requests for evaluations of safety & operational conditions.
  • Implements, manages, supports the development of corrective and preventative measures to identify compliance standards, and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Manages, creates and assists with processes of organizational audits.
  • Incident Management & Corrective Action
  • Investigates accidents/incidents and implements preventive measures.
  • Monitors compensable claims report completion, ensuring the timely processing of associated bills and temporary benefits; reviews report and filed cases to identify trends and suggest solutions.
  • Investigates disturbances such as alarm calls, unlawful intrusion, fires, and property damage. Coordinates activities with Department Heads, police and fire departments during alarms or emergencies.
  • Manages and resolves open corrective actions resulting from inspections, documents, investigations and tracks to completion.
  • Documentation, Reporting and Metrics
  • Ensures Safety Metric report is current and accurate.
  • Ensures appropriate distribution of relevant assessments/inspections and reports.
  • Ensures accuracy and punctuality of reports and records within the Safety & Risk department.
  • Partnership
  • Partners with stakeholders/ different appropriate department leaders and manages process to ensure that all open incidents are closed timely.
  • Respond and assist to all critical incidents and emergency response situations including communication, problem solving, and remediation.
  • Partners with safety and operational leadership to review incident trends to identify risk and corrective action to minimize future risks.

THE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations, OSHA general industry standards.
  • DOT safety law, fleet safety management
  • Principles and techniques of risk/loss prevention management and administration
  • Experience with tracking/management systems (HRIS, ECMS, CRMs, LMS, etc.).
  • One on one and group training and facilitation methods and techniques
  • Types and proper use of safety equipment including personal protective equipment.
  • Tests measurements and techniques used in inspection, investigation, and exposure identification and assessment.
  • Loss analysis and risk assessment, Incident/Accident investigation and report writing & filing
  • Resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy to include MS Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

  • OHST or CSP preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position is safety-sensitive and requires drug testing.
  • This role may require access to facility keys and alarm systems.
  • Must be able to work occasional after-hours and weekends.
  • Must be able to present and lead instructor-led training to a group of people at a time.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage and a privately-owned reliable means of transportation to travel throughout Goodwill territory to visit stores and locations as necessary.
  • Ability to bend, reach and stand, and lift to twenty-five pounds on an occasional basis.
