Buyer – Raw Materials & Inventory Management

Location: Fort Myers, FL
Type: Contract (with potential for permanent placement)

Join a dynamic procurement team where your expertise in inventory planning and supplier coordination will directly impact operational success. We're seeking a Buyer to manage raw materials inventory, drive process improvements, and collaborate across departments to meet plant goals in safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain optimal raw material inventory levels using MRP and lean inventory tools
  • Create, manage, and track purchase orders; communicate status updates with suppliers
  • Investigate and resolve delivery failures through root cause analysis
  • Coordinate inventory transfers between facilities and respond to customer expedite requests
  • Lead medium-scale projects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Analyze inventory data to recommend and implement corrective actions
  • Support new product launches and manage ramp-up/ramp-down plans for product changes
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and collaborative work environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in purchasing or related fields such as supply chain, production leadership, or inventory management
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, and implement solutions
  • Solid understanding of supply chain and manufacturing information systems
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with teams in Operations, Finance, Engineering, Logistics, and more
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (JD Edwards, SAP, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience with lean methodologies such as 5S, 5 Whys, A3 thinking, Kanban, and Kaizen preferred
