MJR Custom Homes is a small, family-owned custom home builder dedicated to creating high-quality, unique homes for our clients. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team and manage our day-to-day financial operations.
Job Summary:
The Bookkeeper will be a key member of our team, responsible for the full-cycle accounting functions of the company. This role requires a high degree of accuracy, proficiency in QuickBooks Online, and a strong understanding of accounting principles. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can manage multiple tasks and contribute to the smooth financial operations of our business.
Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable:

Manage and process payments to subcontractors and vendors in a timely and accurate manner.

Reconcile subcontractor invoices and payment applications.

Track and maintain lien waivers.

Accounts Receivable:

Generate and issue client invoices (billings) based on project progress and contract terms.

Monitor and follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely collection.

Bookkeeping and Reconciliation:

Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations.

Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.

Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.

Reporting and Analysis:

Generate and analyze various financial reports, including job cost reports, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets.

Provide financial insights to management to aid in decision-making.

Insurance and Compliance:

Manage and track general liability and workers' compensation coverage for all subcontractors.

Ensure all subcontractors have the necessary and up-to-date insurance certificates.

Coordinate and run the yearly audit for general liability and workers' compensation insurance.

General Duties:

Assist with administrative tasks as needed.

Maintain organized and accessible financial records.

Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
-
Proven experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, preferably within the construction or real estate industry.

Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online is a must.

Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Experience with job costing is highly desirable.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Proficient in Google drive (Docs, Sheets, etc)
Education:
-
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Would also accept work related experience with no degree if its been more than 5 years in the field of accounting.
