Job Description

Position Overview The Financial Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and effective budget management. This role requires an individual who can partner closely with agency leadership, manage client/project financials, and maintain rigorous controls in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage the full accounting cycle, including month-end and year-end close under accrual-based accounting standards
• Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
• Oversee client billing, revenue recognition, and expense tracking specific to advertising/marketing projects
• Develop and enforce financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy
• Partner with ELT team members to monitor/project profitability and manage budgets
• Ensures that AP is paid in a timely manner and AR is collected promptly
• Ensures that all bank reconciliations are completed
• Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
• Maintains the chart of accounts
• Maintains a system of controls over accounting transactions
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and banking partners
• Complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting/finance staff
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
• 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or senior accounting role
• Proven expertise in accrual-based accounting and GAAP compliance
• Prior experience in an advertising, marketing, media, or professional services agency strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of project-based accounting, revenue recognition, and client billing processes
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills. Workimajig experience is a plus.
