Job DescriptionWe are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In this role, you will support the Accounting Manager in handling daily accounting operations for a multi-entity organization. This position requires a hands-on approach to tasks such as accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience in industries such as hospitality, entertainment, or retail.
Responsibilities:
• Process and code vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper approvals.
• Enter daily revenue data and prepare supporting documentation for financial reports.
• Perform reconciliations for bank, credit card, and cash accounts to maintain accuracy.
• Draft journal entries for review and assist with intercompany cost tracking.
• Ensure timely and organized accounts payable processing, including vendor communication and payment tracking.
• Support accounts receivable processes for group bookings, events, and parties.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with sales tax filings and invoice submission protocols.
• Manage multi-entity accounting tasks, including expense coding and transaction corrections.
• Upload financial documents to shared drives and maintain audit-ready records.
• Collaborate with Operations and Construction divisions to ensure accurate financial reporting.• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, entertainment, or retail sectors.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Familiarity with accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Experience with invoice processing and data entry.
• Knowledge of Excel formulas and advanced spreadsheet management.
• Construction accounting experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
