Ascension Global Staffing & Executive Search is seeking for a Chief Financial Officer who will oversee all aspects of our client's firm’s financial strategy, operations, and performance.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Managing Partner, and Executive Committee, the CFO will be responsible for financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, while managing accounting, payroll, and institutional financing functions.
This role is highly collaborative, working cross-functionally with firm leadership and key committees—including Audit, Budget, and Distribution—to ensure financial health and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee the preparation and delivery of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Lead the month-end close process and optimize departmental procedures for efficiency.

Manage all financial operations including general ledger, cash flow planning, cost allocation, payroll, and forecasting.

Report regularly to firm leadership and participate in partner-level business planning.

Analyze profitability and revenue trends to inform strategic decisions.

Develop and manage the firm’s annual budget, capital plans, and long-term financial forecasts.

Maintain and enhance systems such as Aderant Sierra, electronic billing, and business intelligence platforms.

Build and manage relationships with banks, vendors, and financial partners.

Ensure internal controls, compliance with financial regulations, and risk management protocols are consistently upheld.

Act as a primary liaison for external audits and ensure audit readiness.

Recruit, lead, and develop the accounting, finance, and payroll teams to support the firm’s operational goals.
Required Qualifications

CPA designation required
-
Minimum of 10 years in senior finance leadership roles, preferably within large law firms or other professional services environments.

Strong experience with Aderant Sierra (preferred).

Proven ability to lead within complex, multi-authority structures and multi-office environments.

Demonstrated success in driving process improvements and navigating organizational change.

Expertise in tax regulations, banking laws, and financial compliance standards.
Skills & Competencies

Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and analytical abilities.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.

Deep understanding of legal industry billing systems, accounting standards, and PCI 4.0 requirements.

Strong leadership and people management skills, including hiring, coaching, and performance development.

Lean Six Sigma or process improvement experience is a plus.
