PrideStaff on behalf of a client in Fort Lauderdale is seeking an experienced professional in international trade who will be responsible for accurate recording of import-related costs while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Review all import-related charges from carriers (FedEx, DHL, UPS) and customs brokers to verify the accuracy of applied duty rates and fees.
- Track tariff exclusions, preferential trade agreements (e.g., USMCA), and duty drawback opportunities to minimize the company’s tax liability.
- Allocate landed costs (freight, insurance, and duties) to inventory to ensure accurate valuation of aircraft components.
- Act as the primary financial liaison for customs brokers, ensuring timely payment of duties and verifying that broker statements match general ledger entries.
- Review and process complex international invoices, reconciling freight, duties, and taxes against internal purchase orders and customs entries.
- Prepare reports on tariff impacts, duty spend, and successful recovery efforts for senior management.
- Perform month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and the preparation of journal entries related to import/export activity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, International Trade, or a related field.
- Experience in aviation
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Quantum Control).
- 3+ years in an accounting/compliance role. Experience in the aviation industry is a significant advantage.
- Mastery of HS/HTS codes and U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR).
