Position Overview

Palm House is seeking a dependable and motivated Dishwasher to support the daily operations of our culinary team. This role is essential to maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of the kitchen while upholding the highest standards of sanitation and safety expected in a luxury hospitality environment.

The Dishwasher plays a critical behind-the-scenes role by ensuring all kitchenware, utensils, and equipment are properly cleaned and readily available, allowing the culinary team to operate smoothly and deliver exceptional service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hardworking, and thrives in a fast-paced team setting.

Key Responsibilities

Dishwashing & Sanitation

  • Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing machines or manual cleaning methods.
  • Ensure all items are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and free from residue before being returned to service.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines in accordance with local health regulations and company standards.
  • Properly handle and dispose of trash, recycling, and food waste according to established procedures.

Kitchen Organization & Support

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary dishwashing area at all times.
  • Properly store clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment in designated areas.
  • Assist in keeping kitchen floors, drains, walls, and work areas clean and free of hazards.
  • Support kitchen staff by maintaining a continuous supply of clean dishes and equipment during service periods.

Operational Assistance

  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks when needed, such as peeling, chopping, or organizing ingredients, under the direction of kitchen leadership.
  • Help with receiving, organizing, and storing kitchen supplies and deliveries as assigned.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.

Teamwork & Professionalism

  • Work collaboratively with cooks, chefs, and other kitchen team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Maintain a positive, reliable, and professional attitude throughout each shift.
  • Follow all Palm House policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Prior experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions consistently.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds, including dish racks and kitchen supplies.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and repetitive motions throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely operate dishwashing equipment and cleaning tools.
  • Comfortable working in hot, humid, wet, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
  • Ability to maintain focus, stamina, and efficiency during high-volume service periods.
