The Controller has a broad-ranged leadership role encompassing the Merits USA finance and information technology departments. The Controller will be accountable for management and oversight of both departments who have onsite and remote team members. This role will entail functions such as accounting/cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and providing value added analysis and counsel to the cross-functional leadership teams in addition to a primary focus on the finance and IT teams. The Controller will be responsible for variance analysis (both actual versus budget and actual versus standard costing), proactive operating cash flow management, capital expenditures, financial coordination with parent company, and driving EBITDA improvement through guidance provided to leadership. As a key member of the leadership team, the controller will be required to provide input to enhance and grow the company and may also be required to aid with the development of future business opportunities.
This is a full-time, on-site position based out of our Fort Myers, FL, Corporate HQ. The salary will be based upon knowledge, skills, education, experience, and abilities. Please note that Merits is not offering a relocation allowance for this position at this time.
Candidates must have a bachelors degree in accounting/finance, business administration, or another relevant discipline, with a minimum of five (5) recent years of recent, related experience, preferably in manufacturing with a cost accounting background; or an equivalent combination of related experience, education, and/or training. Candidates should be technologically advanced with proficiencies in ERP, HRIS, and/or CRM systems.Certifications Preferred and Recognized: CPA, CMA, CFA, CGMA, CIA, FRM, Lean/Six Sigma, and/or PMP.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to general safety guidelines and training as applicable to the role.
- Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the company policies, procedures, GAAP, and applicable regulations and laws.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams both internally and externally to drive and exceed organizational goals and to support consistency, compliance, and equitable integrity.
- Lead and manage all aspects of Merits USA financial policies, objectives, initiatives, and assigned team members and collaborate as needed with other senior leaders to yield the best outcomes.
- Lead and manage Merits USA Information Technology Department.
- Develop long-term plans to ensure the needs of the business, the customers, and the team members are met and exceeded.
- Direct Finance Team to meet the needs of business and delight of customer experience.
- Measure, analyze, review, and provide feedback regarding key financial performance indicators.
- Provide consistent leadership, mentoring, coaching, training, and improve team motivation that results in a dedicated team of talented individuals with the right mix of skills and experiences that will achieve business goals and growth.
- Accurately close and report monthly, quarterly and year-end books and record in accordance with US GAAP.
- Comply with tax regulations including filing the tax return and support of audit requests.
- Proactive monitoring of performance metrics to gauge performance for the month (sales shipped, sales to ship, scrap, yield, labor, and other elements impacting gross profit, EBITDA, and operating cash flow).
- Add internal infrastructures to leadership reporting processes (flash reporting, metrics monitoring, variance reporting, margin analysis, standards monitoring, etc.)
- Budgeting and forecasting.
- Capital expenditure management through robust justification analysis, challenging teams to leverage continuous improvement and lean concepts to replace capital expenditure and monitoring of spend versus budget.
- Participate in the annual physical inventory process and assist with building, maintaining and updating BOMs and COGS.
- Learn and navigate the ERP to support both the production process, sales process, and the financial close process.
- Manage and submit corporate closing deliverables on a monthly, quarterly, and year-end basis, and/or as requested by President.
- Responsible for professional, consistent and solutions-focused communications to teams, business, and partners in Taiwan and other key locations worldwide.
- Assure timely inventory management of life cycle introduction and discontinuation.
- Support and drive a culture of respect, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Business-related travel as needed.
- Other duties as required.
COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must understand, practice and drive GAAP principles.
- Must have job costing experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Must have financial CPA auditing experience.
- Must have proficiencies with ERP systems such as Epicor, Oracle NetSuite, or similar.
- Must have advanced proficiencies with MS products (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).
- Must have a proven track record for having a hands-on approach of leading diverse onsite and remote teams.
- Must have excellent organizational and time management skills and can prioritize workloads for self and others.
- Must have an exceptional business and financial acumen, including demonstrated experience with business processes and reporting and have proficient KSA's related to IT infrastructures, software, hardware, and security.
- Must treat confidential information with the upmost respect, care, and compliance.
- Must have a verifiable record of being a trusted gatekeeper of financial information.
- Must have an appreciation and knowledge of methodologies such as TPS, Six Sigma and/or Lean.
- Must have the ability to consistently and effectively present information and respond in a timely manner to high email/message volume, to questions or inquiries from internal and/or external stakeholders.
- Must be willing and able to travel nationally and internationally for business purposes if necessary.
- Must speak, read, and write fluent English and have exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have a valid US drivers license and must maintain throughout employment.
- Must have and keep an updated US Passport in good standing and maintain throughout employment (for international travel).
- Must have a background free and clear of dishonest, unethical practices and/or behaviors in both private and professional life.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
