Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Finance is responsible for leading financial planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance activities in support of government-contracted programs and operational objectives. This role provides financial leadership across programs and functions, ensuring adherence to FAR/DFARS requirements, internal controls, and company financial policies.

The position operates with a high degree of autonomy, serving as a trusted finance partner to Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain, and executive leadership, while helping to establish scalable processes that support future organizational growth.


Key Responsibilities

Government Contract Financial Management

  • Lead and manage financial activities for government contracts in compliance with FAR, DFARS, and applicable regulations.
  • Partner with Program Management to monitor contract performance, funding, indirect rates, and cost controls.
  • Oversee contract setup, billing, revenue recognition, and cost tracking in Deltek Costpoint.
  • Support pricing, cost proposals, and financial inputs for new business pursuits and contract modifications.
  • Support audits and reviews by DCAA, DCMA, and other government agencies.


Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting processes for programs and functional cost centers.
  • Analyze financial performance against budget and forecast; identify risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Develop financial models, scenarios, and business cases to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial reporting and management review materials.

Financial Reporting & Controls

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and government contracting requirements.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including review of journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Establish, maintain, and improve internal controls over program and indirect cost accounting.
  • Ensure consistent application of cost allocation methodologies and rate structures.


Operational & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Serve as the primary finance partner to Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering.
  • Support cost reduction, margin improvement, and productivity initiatives.
  • Provide financial insight into make/buy decisions, supplier costs, and operational trade-offs.
  • Communicate financial results and risks clearly to leadership.

Compliance, Risk & Audit Support

  • Support compliance with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), where applicable.
  • Coordinate and support internal, external, and government audits; prepare documentation and responses.
  • Identify financial and compliance risks and proactively support mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure finance processes align with contractual and regulatory requirements.


Capability Building & Leadership Contribution

  • Provide technical guidance, review, and oversight for finance activities and deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development of standardized processes, tools, and best practices within the finance function.
  • Support knowledge transfer, training, and onboarding of finance team members as the organization grows.
  • Act as a role model for professional judgment, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 8-12 years of progressive finance experience, including experience in a government contracting environment.
  • Experience in Defense Contracting.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, indirect rate structures, and government cost accounting.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently while influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • CPA, CMA, or similar professional certification.
  • Experience supporting DCAA/DCMA audits.
  • Familiarity with CAS-covered contracts.
  • Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint (contract setup, billing, reporting, and analysis).
