Naples Botanical Garden is a 170-acre world-class paradise, featuring the flora and cultures of the tropics and sub-tropics including Brazil, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and Florida. The Garden’s mission is to connect people and plants through display, education, conservation, and applied science. The Garden has beautifully restored native habitats, cultivated gardens, walking trails, and public programming that offer education and enjoyment for people of all ages. Position Summary: This position serves as the frontline to customer relations at Naples Botanical Garden. In addition to the public, this position works closely with Garden staff, volunteers and fellow associates.

Visitor Services Leads tend to work 32 hours per week and will also be required to work some evenings and nights, especially during season. The shift schedule will be Wednesdays through Saturdays from 7:30 or 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM depending on coverage needs. Availability on those days in particular is critical for the role. On occasion, the daily shift may change to 9 AM to 5:00 PM if support during closing is needed.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greets incoming members and guests in a prompt and welcoming manner.
  • Must be willing to be in the presence of dogs on our dog admission days.
  • Occasionally may be asked to check in or greet visitors outside of ticketing booths
  • Maintain a professional appearance and professional conduct at all times.
  • Efficiently and accurately operates a POS system, which includes daily balancing.
  • Must be up-to-date on the Garden’s day-to-day operations, special events, website, and exhibitions by reviewing facility, staff and tour calendars daily. Proactively relays this information to visitors and staff. Update white board with current information.
  • Promotes and sells Naples Botanical Garden Memberships.
  • Follows proper procedures for opening and closing the Visitor’s Center when scheduled.
  • Answers telephone in a professional manner.
  • Maintains the appearance of the Visitor Center, which includes stocking maps, brochures, cleaning scooters, and wheelchairs.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Management for daily operations.
  • Oversee and train current and new employees on procedures/policies in ticketing.
  • Organize and Manage the Naples Botanical Garden Visitor Services Office. Services include all ticket sales, membership sales and renewals and reservations for upcoming events.
  • Restock supplies in ticketing.
  • Coordinates phone center for on line ticket sales and customer order maintenance.
  • Maintains & troubleshoots where needed: POS system, credit card readers, etc.
  • Assist staff in cash out at end of shift when needed.
  • Help coordinate staff breaks when needed.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Weekends, nights, and holidays are required. A flexible schedule is a must.
  • Average hours vary due to seasonality from 10 to 40 hours.
  • Preferred minimum of 2 years customer service or retail experience.
  • Cash handling experience and the ability to operate a POS cash register.
  • Good computer skills including MS Office (word, excel, etc.), Outlook, and use of web browsers.
  • Gardening experience helpful but not required.
  • Good communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Kreyol is a plus.
  • May stand for extended periods of time, bending and kneeling. Work in fluctuating temperatures. Lift and carry objects up to 10 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Have reliable transportation.
