POSITION SUMMARY: The Server is to serve food and beverages to guests in a timely, courteous, efficient and accurate manner. A server is the primary contact between the guest and the restaurant. The server greets the guests and performs all steps of service including but not limited to securing the payment.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: The following are intended as basic requirements. Success will come to the individual that is able to expand upon these job requirements. These requirements may change over the course of employment.
- Arrive to work on time for shift. Maintain availability consistent with business needs, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Ensure that tables are set to standards.
- Serves alcoholic beverages in an appropriate manner consistent with company standards.
- Answers guest questions about food, beverages, and our facilities accurately and in a friendly manner.
- Develops relationships with guests.
- Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
- Deliver and describe food and beverages - responsible for knowing how each dish is presented in order to assure that the proper order has been delivered to the table.
- Serve food and/or beverages to guests; prepare and serve specialty dishes at tables if required.
- Assure needs of guests are continually being met in a courteous and professional manner throughout the service.
- Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes, present, accept payment and provide change or credit card receipt.
- Follow appropriate procedures for closing checks.
- Identifies food orders when ready and delivers items to tables in a timely manner.
- Maintains a safe, clean, organized, and stocked work area.
- Maintain full knowledge of menus, recipes, and other pertinent information.
- Constantly increasing knowledge of food, beverages, and other products and services.
- Prepares work area for either opening, mid-shift, or closing.
- Lifts and transport service trays weighing up to 40 lbs. from kitchen to dining room and back.
- Must be able to handle multiple banquet functions or tables that could be occurring at the same time.
- Adheres to all applicable Graspa Group Standard Operating Procedures.
- Must inform management before leaving on break and before the end of every shift.
- Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
- Promptly report all maintenance issues.
- Service-oriented and must follow our core values.
- Complete all side work duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum two years of high-volume experience, preferably in hotels or restaurants.
- Exceptional guest service skills.
- Must be able to work without close supervision.
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Availability to work holidays, nights, and weekends
- Associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the restaurant.
